Who we are

This website is operated by Dr David Nguyen (MBBS FRACGP GPMHSC), a General Practitioner practising at Pro Health Care Glenelg, 1 Rose Street, Glenelg SA 5045. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy mean Dr David Nguyen.

This policy applies to drdavidnguyen.com.au. It does not apply to the Pro Health Care Glenelg practice management system or any patient health records, which are governed by separate privacy obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and applicable health records legislation.

What data we collect and why

First, what we don't do: we never sell your data, we never share it for commercial purposes, and we don't use it for advertising. Apart from one thing you can choose to give us - your email address, if you subscribe to the newsletter (explained below) - this website collects no names, no contact details, and no health information.

Like most websites, we use a standard analytics tool (Google Analytics 4) to understand, in anonymous and general terms, how the site is used - things like which health articles are read most, how visitors find the site, and the general region and type of device they browse from. Its only purpose is to help us write better health content and improve the website.

Detailed analytics are only collected if you accept analytics when the consent prompt appears. If you decline, no cookies are set and no profile of your visit is built. Limited, anonymous, cookie-free signals may still reach Google so that overall visit counts stay accurate - these signals are not used to identify you and are not linked to you in any way.

Google as data processor

GA4 data is processed by Google LLC, headquartered in the United States. Google acts as our data processor, meaning they handle the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement. Google's own privacy policy applies to how they handle this data: policies.google.com/privacy.

GA4 does not log or store visitor IP addresses. We have disabled all advertising features within our GA4 account.

Cookies and local storage

GA4 uses cookies to distinguish visitors and measure usage. We also store your consent preference in your browser's local storage so you are not asked again on future visits.

If you decline analytics, no GA4 cookies are set. You can clear your consent preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.

The newsletter

If you subscribe to email updates, we collect one thing: the email address you type in. No name, no other details. We use it for exactly one purpose - sending you the newsletter - and nothing else.

Subscribing is a two-step process. After you sign up, you receive a confirmation email, and you are only subscribed once you confirm. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect straight away. We keep a record of when you confirmed, because Australian law requires us to be able to show that you consented.

The newsletter is delivered by EmailOctopus, an email service operated by EmailOctopus Ltd, a company based in the United Kingdom. Subscriber email addresses are stored on servers in the European Union (currently Ireland), where European privacy law (the GDPR) applies. EmailOctopus acts as our data processor and handles this data on our behalf; their privacy policy is at emailoctopus.com/legal/privacy.

We do not track whether you open our emails or what you click in them - that tracking is switched off. The one exception is the confirmation link in the signup email: that click has to be registered, because it is what subscribes you. Your email address is never linked to your browsing on this site, and never shared with anyone else.

• Request access to that information
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request that we delete information we hold about you
